Holocaust Summer (With Prudence)

from Inconsiderate Magic by Kevin Hirth

lyrics

I might break all my windows,
just to let out some steam
It's so hot when I wake up
that it's getting obscene

God, I've lost so much water,
probably all my percents
All that's left is a heatwave
and a room with no vents

Now I'm starting to see things,
they're mirages, I guess
There's a steak in my kitchen,
and a girl in a dress

So we eat & we talk some,
I forget all the sweat & the gloom
As we kiss in the sauna
that once was my room

When I wake up she's gone,
like a feather in the wind
And the holocaust summer
finally comes to its end

Now, it's safe to presume
that she's just in my head
But I'd like to assume
she's real somewhere instead
